A series of 'Top Chump' playing cards to promote the paper's World Cup coverage.

After choosing the thirty 'Top Chumps' from the history of the World Cup, we wrote their player profiles and stories, then commissioned an illustration summing up each legendary incident.

The packs of cards were given away free in the weekend edition of The Guardian. We also created press ads to promote their release.

The series of cards went on to become highly valued Top Trumps collector pieces.
